April 7th, 2009 -  Organized by the Orthodox Clergy Association of Chicago and with the blessing of His Grace Bishop Longin, an Akathist service was held in the New Gracanica Monastery. This service is conducted every year on the Tuesday of the sixth week of Lent. This year we were especially blessed that the Kursk icon of the Mother of God was in our monastery for the second time this year. Akathist was served by twelve priests from the various Orthodox churches in the Chicago area, led by Bishop Peter of the Russian Orthodox Church. A fine performance of the Pan-Orthodox choir added to the beauty and festivity of the service. We are grateful to all who participated and we hope that all who attended the service were equally blessed and inspired.
