On the Sunday of Orthodoxy, February 21st, 2010, His Grace Bishop Longin served Divine Liturgy in the Church of Saint Simeon the Myrrh-streaming in South Chicago which was celebrating its Slava. Along with Bishop Longin, the Liturgy was served by Prot. Luka Lukic, Deacons Milovan Gogic, Aleksandar Petrovic and Nikolaj Kostur. Singing during the Liturgy was done by both the regular church choir and the children's choir. Before the end of Liturgy, a memorial service was served for all the departed members of St. Simeon's parish. After the Liturgy, the Slava bread was cut in the hall, followed by a banquet. The new president of the Church-school community, Milosav Obradovic, expressed his welcome to the Bishop, serving clergy, visiting nuns and all other guests. Jovan Balac, who was the previous president of the parish and is currently on the diocesan board, congratulated the Bishop with the 35 years of priesthood and 25 years of episcopate, giving him a present on the occasion. In his speech, His Grace thanked the parish for the present and for their love, congratulating them their Slava. The bishop spoke about the importance of keeping the testament of Saint Sava, purity of the Orthodox Faith and the holy canons. He also pointed out the importance of Serbian language for the preservation of the national and religious identity which was one of the main messages of Stefan Nemanja - Saint Simeon, the protector of the parish in South Chicago.
